CJ Hand is a field investigator with the DOJ specializing in environmental issues. He is so ruggedly handsome that all the women between 16 and 60 want to jump his bones. Yeah, sure.
CJ takes a leave of absence from work and goes to Nebraska at the request of an old friend to look into the drowning of the man's son.
The story involves people in positions of power who are corrupted by huge amounts of money available for breaking the law. The fact that ground water will be contaminated for future generations doesn't faze the evil doers.
This story has a large cast. There are abundant good guys offset by the bad to evil antagonist. There are so many characters I lost track of what their roles and relationships were.
Amongst all the criminal activity CJ delves into, he also discovers true love when he reunites with a long lost soulmate.
The editing is not abysmal, but far from being good. There is an abundance of missing, extra, misspelled and wrong words.
The sentence structure is mostly good but a few have such poor composition they make no sense.
Character development is good for the main and central support characters.
The amount of detail borders on being too much. I don't care what minor characters are wearing or how a single use location is furnished. Those details simply slow the story down. I also tired of reading repeatedly about the green and silver leaves of the cottonwoods blowing in the breeze.
The author's real life experience in the environmental field and enforcement is readily apparent.
The plot is intense, involved and interesting.
The writing style is fast paced and filled with vivid descriptions.
Scenes often run together because breaks have been omitted.
There is some cursing but it's not overwhelming, and there are no blatant sexual situations
I recommend this story for those who are not put off by less than perfect editing. After professional editing and formatting I would rate Deadly Circles at least 4.0
